THE END OF ETERNITY
“N.K. McCarthy” is a pen name that a friend who is a regular at the Maui Live Poets uses. She says, “Writing poetry, to me, is about capturing a thought, feeling, or idea, and putting it behind glass before it flies away and is lost forever. This poem is about those rare moments in life when we forget our own name but remember we are part of something much bigger. “
THE END OF ETERNITY
We close the door
And the world falls away
There is no distance
Not any more
Each star
Each moon
Each galaxy
Is at our fingertips
And we are it
And it is ours
All of it
For now
Alone
Peaceful
Undisturbed
Together
Memories
Hopes
Dreams
In a pile on the floor
The intruder creeps across
Covering our nakedness
Stealing what is ours
Taunting us
To run after him
Again

Please note: If you would like to contribute a poem to this blog, please let me know by leaving a comment below. I’d be happy to hear from you.
I do ask three things of my guest poets:
- a poem of your own making that has great meaning and mana for you,
- the back-story for the poem — what inspired you or how you made it or whatever you want to tell about it, and
- an image you own that I can use as the featured photo in the header. (The last is optional. I do ask that the image you share is one you own — either an image of yourself or something that relates to the poem. If you choose not to send an image, then I’ll go find something that works.)
If you click on this thing –> “Guest Poet Portal” you can submit a poem right now.

Thanks for your visit. I’d appreciate it if you would drop a note or comment below and tell me your thoughts.

What a beautiful poem! Thank you for sharing that!
I love what your friend say about putting ideas, thoughts and feelings “behind glass before it flies away and is lost forever”. I love that. It inspires me to want to write more of those things down rather than just leaving them dancing around in my head for the moment.
Cat, thanks for the visit and the comment. I’ll pass it along to N. Please come again and do follow the inspiration. The problem with dancing thoughts is that, if you don’t capture them, they dance right out of your head!
Wow, Netta! Whenever I visit your site to read your words they have this unbelievable ability to be what I need to hear at that very moment. This poem is making me realise how valuable it is to have a connection to the world as that connection shows that we are apart of something bigger than what we are. And when we recognise that we connected to everything, we know in our hearts that we can do anything.
I am so glad, Amberlee. Please come again!
Hello love this poem. It really resonates with me. Sometimes I feel like a helpless being in this earth and reading this makes me feel peace knowing that there is a great happiness in the mystery of eternity. Love it!
Thanks for the visit and the comments, Grace. Please come again….

Do you have to be a poet to guest post on your page? I use to write poetry when I was young and I really loved it, its been a while since I have got back into it, but would love to share some poems with you in the future. Thanks
Hey Grace: Thank you for the visit and your comments. My own belief is that everybody is a poet. I’ve never met anyone who was not one. Please do let me know if you would like to share a poem made by you that is meaningful. And do come again….
Beautiful article that touches my heart, I am not good in expressing myself like this poem, but when it is told like this it takes me another side of the world.
I close my eyes and meditate upon the words, not going on the outside for a week or more it like closing the world, and I am in my own Galaxy world.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the visit and for sharing your thoughts. N.K. will be so pleased!
Please do come again….
